Cell Structure

Plant Cell
Animal Cell
Animal Cell

How do you think plant cells differ from animal cells?

Difference
- Plants cells are larger than animal cells.
- Plant cells have chloroplasts unlike animal cells
- Plant cells have a cell wall unlike animal cells
- Animal cells have a centrosome unlike plant cells
- Plant cells have plasticids unlike animal cells
- Vacuoles are conspicuous in plant cells than animal cells i.e. large central vacuole in plant cells

Similarities

Animal cells can be phagocytic (engulf other cells) unlike plant cells
- Cells of Higher plants lack centrioles unlike animal cells.
- Plant cells have plasmodesmata which links pores in the cell wall allow and communication between adjacent cells unlike animal cells.

What are some of the structures inside a cell that helps it to live and performs it's role in a organism?

Some of the structures inside a cell that helps it to live and performs it's role in a organism are... mitochrondria-"powerhouse of cell",plasmamembrane- protects the cell from damage.

An image of what centrioles look like...
The functions of a centrioles-centrioles produce spindle fibres, these are used to pull apart chromosomes in mitosis and meiosis. To organize the motion of the chromogomes.

Cell Structure Vocab Lists

Vocabulary Lists

Cell Wall-a thin membrane around the cytoplasm of a cell; controls passage of substances in and out of the cell.

Chloroplast-are organelles found in plants and eukaryotic algae which conduct photosynthesis

Cytoplasm- is the contents of cells inside the cell membrane, and outside of the nuclear membrane.

Endoplasmic Reticulum- is an important organelle (a structure within the cell that is divided from the cytoplasm by a membrane)

Golgi Apparatus- Its main function is to modify proteins synthesized by ribosomes.

Nucleus- the center of an atom.

Nucleolus-  a small round body of protein in a cell.

Organelle-little organs

Plasma Membrane- membranes, which separate the cell form its environment, work as a filter.

Vesicle- a bladder like structure that works as a filter.
